The Ventus 2a in the FAI-15 m Class is difficult to top. No sailplane in this class has won so many World and European Championships . Improving the uncompromised aerodynamic design of the Ventus 2a fuselage was a challenge. The lower drag of the new horizontal and vertical stabilizer airfoils, developed by Prof. Loek M. Boermans, was a big step to improve the performance of the new Ventus 2ax. Together with new developed winglets from Professor Dr. Maughmer, University of Pennsylvania in USA, it was possible to improve also the flight characteristics of the Ventus 2ax, especially at low speeds and with high wing loadings. The result is that Werner Meuser convincingly confirmed his positive flight results with the first place in the World Championships in South-Africa 2001 in his new Ventus 2ax.

With a span of 3.5 meters this 1:4.3 scale Ventus 2ax is a fine scale gliders.  The cockpit comes partly finished with control columns, upholstered seats, and some scale details such as instrument mushrooms.  The true to scale canopy is hinged sidewise and includes preinstalled working sliding windows that allow access to the canopy locking mechanism. All that remains for the builder to do is add a scale pilot for complete realism.

The kit is available with sheeted and covered wings. All control surfaces pre-cut and hinged ready to hook up controls. The well-proven HQ airfoil gives this fine model its smooth and versatile flying characteristics. This model is comfortable on a slope and can be winch launched, but is at it’s best when aero-towed. The neat wing planform gives it exceptional thermalling performance and the wings are sufficiently strong to withstand some aerobatics. Like its full-scale counterpart, the poly brake wing plan with winglets form looks especially graceful and unique in the air and gives a very smooth handling.

With the level of completion of this glider, only a few hours of work are required before it will be ready to take to the air. The wings and control surfaces are Oracover covered completely finished. Airbrakes are installed and ready to be connected to your servos. Functional retract is optional and can be purchased installed in the high gloss, gel coated fiberglass fuselage. A small package of hardware and building instructions complete the kit.

Radio requirements are two micro servos for the ailerons and flaps, two mini servos for the airbrakes, two sub-micro servos for the winglet ailerons and four regular servos for the elevator, rudder, retract, and tow release.
